Synthesis of [1]benzothieno[3,2-b][1]benzothiophene (BTBT) and its higher homologs through palladium-catalyzed intramolecular decarboxylative arylation

We report herein an effective method for the construction of 4- and 7-ring benzo-fused thieno[3,2-b]thiophenes, involving palladium-catalyzed intramolecular decarboxylative arylation as the key step.     

Dielectrically controlled resolution (DCR) of 3-aminopiperidine via diastereomeric salt formation with N-tosyl-(S)-phenylalanine

A useful key intermediate for the dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, 3-aminopiperidine 1, was successfully resolved with an enantiomerically pure resolving agent, N-tosyl-(S)-phenylalanine 2, to give both stereoisomers (R)-1 and (S)-1 as a less-soluble diastereomeric salt with (S)-2, via a dielectrically controlled resolution (DCR) phenomenon.     

X-ray structure analysis of trans-1,4-polybutadiene

The crystal structure of trans-1,4-polybutadiene has been reported by Natta et al. to be pseudo-hexagonal below its solid-phase transition temperature. In the present X-ray structure analysis, it is revealed that the crystal belongs to the monoclinic system with the space group P2¹/a. The unit cell, with the lattice constants a = 8.63 Å, b = 9.11 Å, c = 4.83 Å, and β = 114°, includes four molecular segments.     

Electrocatalytic Oxidation of Amines on a Mediator‐Modified Electrode by Electrochemical Copolymerization of Nitroxyl Radical Precursor Containing Pyrrole Side Chain and Bithiophene

This paper describes the electrocatalytic oxidation of amines on TEMPO (2,2,6,6‐tetramethylpiperidine‐1‐oxyl)‐modified electrodes prepared by electrochemical copolymerization of TEMPO precursor containing pyrrole side chain and 2,2′‐bithiophene. The modified electrode exhibits electrocatalytic activity for the oxidation of primary and secondary amines. Cyclic voltammetric studies showed that the peak current of the cyclic voltammogram increased linearly with increasing concentration of amine in the sample solution.
